    So the 400+ doesn't have the alert flash technology where the light turns solid red then flashes when you apply brakes firmly then returns to the flashing pattern it was set on when you pedal again? There's also a 400+ with Ai... I am going to see iif it has the alert brake flashing technology. I currently have a 300 and a 150 both with the alert flashing technology but I wish they would give me a little more than 2.5 hrs in that mode. I usually cycle with two so that I can swap out when one of them loses charge since my rides are often three to four hours on my mountain bike. I also have a front "to be seen" Zecto which seems to last forever on a single charge.... same for the red Zecto I clip to my bike bag... the battery life is incredible!

    • @JamesSocialCycling
      @JamesSocialCycling 19 годин тому

      Zecto’s are good, but just don’t like the shape and 250 lumens I think, don’t quote me. This version does not have the brake technology. I’ve just gone for the be seen, as some drivers don’t know what the solid light means🫣😊 Appreciate you dropping by and commenting😊👍

    I'm pretty sure your problem will have come back by now. You need to leave a bit of loose in the bearings, and the second bolt is to lock the other one so it doesn't tighten by itself while you are pedaling (and you need to tighten that one pretty good to prevent the other one from moving). You can check Park Tool video on how to service them. It can be quite finicky to set the preload correctly, loose enough so it roll freely but tight enough so it doesn't have play in the pedal axle.

    • @JamesSocialCycling
      @JamesSocialCycling 23 години тому

      I think the body is the issue as the issue is still there, once installed again. Spent the weekend riding and still it’s a lot lower, but doesn’t turn or roll back in the right position to clip in. I’m sending them back to supplier, as websites T&C’s stated 6 month warranty not 3😊👍

    • @morneauh
      @morneauh 12 годин тому

      @@JamesSocialCycling Like I said,, I knew the issue would come back. You need to set the preload correctly and the way you did it, it simply cannot work. Pedals are not at fault here I'm afraid.

    I had a similar problem with my Hope 20five wheels until I found out the bit at the end of the axle is just a push on cap. Simply put some pliers on it and twist / pull and it will come off. When you’ve tightened up the lock ring just push the cap back on. This way you can also use a torque wrench to make sure you get to 40Nm.

    Pirelli is the King of the TPU Hill but too expensive. I have wrecked several when fitting, until James made a video on how to do it properly. They do patch well. The cheaper ones (Chinese) are ok but don't last, I carry them to get me home and repair the Pirelli's. Now these look like the real deal. I have spent a packet on these types of inners from various sources. Its been a journey of experiences. They ain't puncture proof for sure and being more puncture resistant over alternatives is difficult to determine. Lighter is obviously the draw. I havent found a patch yet to fix that lasts. They have a slippery surface that makes adhesion compromised over time. They dont weld on like onto butyl. I keep pressures up as sensitive to pinch flats. When they go, they can deflate quick. Anything over £10 an inner is too much because of these issues in my opinion. They are just too expensive to keep replacing. But you dont wanna dick on safety for sure. I came across a version direct from the motherland and they were appalling made around the valve seating and blew badly on me. Those ones you show look well made by having a thick oval shape sealing as opposed to circular that dont sit as well in the rim in my opinion. The trip is still a learning one and mostly an expensive one👍🤟

      Hear you loud and clear. I’ll dig out my Pirelli tube that’s been peppered with holes, think it was something in the tyre or rim, never did find out exactly but gave me a good go on fixing the flats. I found the Pirelli patches to work really well, have some orange ones too, can’t remember the name. I have to say I found fixing a puncture so much easier than a standard inner tube, though we all have our differing experiences😊 appreciate the comment and you dropping by😊👍

    I just received mine yesterday. I had quite a lot of failure on the RideNow, so I'm trying this. My tire are 30c, so I will see how it goes. They cost double than the RideNow, hopefully they last twice as long. I got an other one, the brand is "Hub", they are a bit less expensive than the RideNow, they are wider than the Exar and similar thicker material. P.S. It's Magene, not Megane. Edit: For those wondering, it doesn't work with 30C tire, 28 is the limit. The part where the tube joint together doesn't stretch, so it create a "bump" in the tire, and the surface around that area stretch too much. Would not be safe to ride, I put it in the garbage. The "Hub" one seems fine, now installed the back tire.

    • @JamesSocialCycling
      @JamesSocialCycling 4 дні тому

      Just my pronunciation. Hate the RideNow TPU’s won’t use again due to trust, one I put on the bike lasted around 50 minutes(was a spare), 30 minutes to cafe and popped 20 minutes later whilst at at cafe. I’d just be worrying when’s that inner tube going to go bang🫣 I’ve tried a few now and was going to shout a set out, but only ever used as a spare. These EXARs are nice feeling, but let’s see if I can get some more miles on them next weekend. Cheers for dropping by appreciated.

    I was thinking they'd sent you a pair of tubes for the Trek and one for your unicycle at the start of the video there! It seems you'd already been using one though so all is good 😎 Those tubes look good value for money, unlike the cheapo ones you tried that were like tissue paper. I pulled one of my bikes out of the shed earlier and found the little green blob of Slime on the front tyre that indicates I'd had a puncture, and the Slime inner tube had done its thing - no apparent loss of pressure either, so I'll be sticking with them! Here, I see you're back in that there up country place again - hills down here too much for you eh? 😲😛😄 Good stuff James! 👍

    I have p zero tire on my 2 bikes, I get 6 puncture This season . Is garbage . I used continental gp before only one puncture last year I switched to p zero because is almost impassible to put them on Road , very tight

      Appreciate the comment, but I find the P Zero road not tubeless ready the easiest tyre to install. I show this in a new video coming out at the weekend. I still ride them and have been great for me with around 1500 miles on them. Our experiences differ.

    I to use the rubber crepe. They used to use this to remove the glue from the tub tyres that you used to glue to the rim. Silca is quiet messy, I found Stans RACE was just as good on punctures, lasts longer and make less mess in the tyre. Glad to see you mastered setting up tubeless

      Thanks for dropping by Darren. I tried Stans normal stuff, but was not good for me, so thought I’d just go for the ultimate in puncture repair and mess😂 Yes, I’m getting the hang of tubeless finally😊👍

      @@JamesSocialCycling The race has the fibres like Silica and hence being much much more effective. I found it lasts double the time of the Silca

    3.months warranty is a joke.... 1.year at least is the norm... This pedals must be chinese copys or a bad serie from shimano.. Mine have been on bike from 2017...and stil spins good,anyway i put on flats from trek professional serie.. On my roadbike.. I saved 60.gram..and now i can find the optimal place for my feet... At least i think so😁.. We must be open to new ideas.. Try and error.. For example before the elite cyclists use 23mm.tires..whit high pressure... Now they use 30-33mm.tires whit low pressure...... Nice song james.. 👌👌.. You have a good voice for singing... Whis you good luck whit your pedals 🙏🧙‍♂️🕺👍

      Thanks for dropping by Johnny, nice to hear from you. Yeah, probably copies as you say and I will be contacting the website I purchased through, as they’re ok, but still not 100%, but no hassles. As you say find what works for you an stick with it. Take care my friend and thanks for comment😊👍

    I am a big Shimano fan, but I think there pedals are rubbish and personally find I’ve had less trouble since switching to look pedals. Also as an Irish man, who comes from a town where making a poor cup of tea would get you put out of the family, you’re tea is spot on 😆

    For the next show maybe consider drawing your thumb between the rear sprocket and chain while giving it a clean. Looking at about 6 months to heal for that one🤟

    Tea colour - 9/10. A smidgeon too much milk, but a good effort 👍 Singing - 4/10. 🧐 Erm... well... 🤔 Let's move on shall we... Blood and gore content - 4/10. A light spillage of blood, no gaping wounds, air ambulance not required. Cycling related information - 10/10. A clear demonstration of how easy pulling apart those pedals for a bit of maintenance is. 👍 Three month warranty though? I always think the length of the warranty tells you how much confidence a manufacturer has in their product. Three months... twelve weeks? Hmmm... not very good is it! Good stuff James!

      I’m glad you enjoyed the content, specially the Tea colour🤣👌 You won’t get this kind of content, too many YT rs make the video quick and miss out most of the better bits of taking stuff apart and putting back together. Still, the thumbs now ok thankfully, though disappointed you didn’t give my singing a better score😂 Cheers Mick, appreciate the feedback buddy😊👍

    Never taken old sealant out for years. Just topped up. Only time I empty is if i swap tyres and even then, i reuse the old stuff. Never had an issue. Tubeless is easy with the correct approach and a compressor.
